Our mission is deeply rooted in our local community, and extends to Boston and the surrounding region: provide nourishing, sustainably-grown, and naturally-cultivated produce. We enrich soil, foster biodiversity, and nurture healthier ecosystems while delivering food that actually tastes like something.
In 2025 we're growing heirloom tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, garlic, onions, summer squash, Swiss chard, carrots, peppers, turnips, beans, pumpkins, winter squash, corn, and a full herb garden. Fruit crops include pears, strawberries, blueberries, and concord grapes. We use selective seed procurement and land-race techniques to cultivate varieties adapted to our local microclimate — so we can grow things you won't find in a supermarket.

CRAFT BEER & LOCAL IPAs · WINCHENDON, MA
A rotating selection of New England IPAs, local lagers, and hard-to-find small-batch beer — kept cold and turned over fast.
We built our beer shelf for the same reason we built our produce shelf: the good stuff is made nearby, by small teams who care. Expect New England IPAs from Massachusetts breweries, crisp lagers, hoppy pale ales, farmhouse ales, stouts in season, and a rotating shelf of whatever just came in from a trusted distributor.
Beer turns over fast here. We don't sit on stock — what's cold today gets drunk this weekend, and we re-stock with something different.
Hazy, juicy, aromatic — the style New England built. We rotate our selection so there's usually something new from a regional brewery alongside the classics.
Whenever possible, beer from our neighbors — small and mid-sized Massachusetts breweries brewing within a short drive of Winchendon.
Craft lagers, helles, pilsners, and Mexican-style lagers — the beer you actually want after mowing the lawn in August.
West-coast pale ales, sessions, and lower-ABV options for people who want flavor without the hangover.
Dry, funky farmhouse ales and saisons. A natural match for charcuterie boards built from our local cheese and bread.
In colder months, rich imperial stouts, barrel-aged specialties, and smooth milk porters — ideal for a fire and a steak.
If you want to try a handful of new beers without committing to a full 4-pack of something you've never had, ask at the register — we're happy to help you mix a pack across our selection. It's how a lot of our regulars discover their new favorites.
Our customers drive in from across North Central Massachusetts and the Monadnock region for the beer selection — Winchendon, Gardner, Athol, Templeton, Royalston, Fitchburg, Leominster, Ashburnham, Ashby, Rindge NH, Jaffrey NH, and beyond. If you're searching for a local IPA or small-batch craft beer anywhere in the area, it's on the way.

ORGANIC GROCERY · WINCHENDON, MA
Certified-organic produce, bulk staples, local dairy, and fresh bread — in a real grocery store, at prices that work for real households.
The Farm Stand is the retail outlet of Farming is Life , a certified-organic regenerative farm. A lot of our shelves are stocked directly from our fields. The rest comes from neighboring farms and small producers we know personally — all growing without chemicals and all within a short drive of Winchendon.
If you've been driving to Whole Foods in Leominster or the co-op further south, we want you to know there's an honest organic grocery option right here.
Seasonal fruits and vegetables from our farm and nearby growers. In summer: heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, greens, herbs, berries, stone fruit. In fall: winter squash, apples, potatoes, hardy greens. Everything certified-organic or grown to the same standard.
Milk, eggs, and cheese from nearby Massachusetts dairies. Fresh, minimally processed, and traceable to a farm you could drive to.
Delivered daily from local bakeries — real loaves made with good flour, not shelf-stable sandwich bread.
Heirloom beans, whole grains, organic flours, rice, oats, and pantry essentials. Buy the amount you need and skip the packaging tax.
Oils, vinegars, honey, maple syrup, spices, nut butters, condiments — carefully chosen, mostly organic, mostly small producers.
Culturally-relevant and heirloom varieties you won't find in a supermarket — the reason many of our regulars got started shopping here.
We accept SNAP on eligible items. Organic produce, dairy, bread, bulk staples, and most pantry goods are all SNAP-eligible. Using your benefits here means more of your household's food comes from farms you can visit.
We're not a premium grocery store. Because a lot of what we stock comes from across the parking lot (or from farms we know personally), we don't pay the middleman markups you'd see on the same product at a big-box organic chain. Bulk goods in particular are priced to let a family actually stock a pantry.
NATURAL & ORGANIC WINE · WINCHENDON, MA
Low-intervention, organic, and natural wines from family-owned vineyards and artisan winemakers — curated for Central Massachusetts.
Most of what you'll find at The Farm Stand comes from small, family-owned vineyards and artisan winemakers working in the natural wine tradition: organic or biodynamic farming, native yeasts, minimal additions, and no industrial shortcuts. These are bottles made by people, not corporations.
We stock wines that pair with how people in this part of Massachusetts actually eat — crisp whites for Berkshire picnics, bright reds for Winchendon cookouts, skin-contact and orange wines for the curious, and a rotating shelf of surprises our buyer fell in love with this month.
Light, juicy reds from small producers — French Gamay, Italian Frappato, old-vine Spanish field blends, and low-intervention New World bottles.
Crisp, mineral-driven whites — dry Rieslings, unfiltered Loire whites, Italian coastal whites. Nothing engineered for uniformity.
Certified-organic bottles alongside wines from vineyards farming organically without formal certification — a broader selection than most grocery stores carry.
Pétillant-naturel and traditional-method sparkling wines from small producers. A rotating shelf of bottles that are a little weird in the best way.
Whites fermented on their skins — textured, aromatic, and great with strong cheeses and braised dishes.
Dry, structured rosés from Provence and beyond — the kind that actually hold up to food, not just the pool.
Because we're also a working vegetable farm, our wine selection is chosen to match what's actually coming out of the ground. In high summer, look for grassy Sauvignon Blancs to drink with our heirloom tomatoes. In fall, structured reds for squash and braised greens. Ask whoever's working the register — they'll tell you what they'd pour tonight.
Customers come to The Farm Stand from across North Central Massachusetts and the Monadnock region — Winchendon, Gardner, Athol, Templeton, Royalston, Fitchburg, Leominster, Ashburnham, Ashby, Rindge NH, Jaffrey NH, and beyond. If you're looking for natural or organic wine anywhere in the area, we're worth the drive.
